Our Story
Grey Matter Tutoring was created to better prepare students for their college admission and career. Our tutor has not only achieved perfect scores on both the ACT and SAT, but continues to take each test several times a year to find new strategies to help their students.
Over 98% of students have achieved their desired score or better, and have gone on to attend their first institution of choice for their undergraduate career.
About Our Tutor
Dr. Spenser Washburn
Spenser has been tutoring for 12 years. With an undergraduate degree in Science Education from BYU-IDAHO and a PhD in Chemistry from UNT, he has a deep understanding of the sciences and how to bring them to any age or background.
He has also achieved perfect scores in both the ACT and SAT. His empathy in teaching sets him apart. In order to keep abreast of current testing trends, Spenser retakes the ACT & SAT several times a year.
Spenser is ready to take on new students and help them achieve their goals!

Test Preparation
Our tutor has not only earned a perfect score, but has consistently helped students earn 6-12 more points on the ACT and 100-200 on the SAT.
K-12 Math
Many students find math to be a foreign language. We have learned to translate it into digestible pieces for each student so that they gain the confidence to tackle it on their own come test time.
K-12 Science
With a PhD in Chemistry, our tutor has a deep understanding of the sciences. Although the topics may be very advanced, our tutor knows how to explain them to novices and increase their understanding.
